How we find servers

Servers reach the list in two ways: their owners submit them, or we detect them. For detection we collect publicly announced game server addresses and query each server directly with the standard Open Tibia status protocol, the same request game clients and status pages use. We do not scan IP ranges.

A server we detected is labelled "detected automatically" until its owner claims and verifies the profile.

What we measure

Every few minutes our probe asks each server whether it is online, how many players are connected, which client version it emulates and what its message of the day says. Player counts are what the server itself reports, and every server card shows when it was last checked. Some servers do not answer status requests at all; they are shown as “Status unknown” without a player count instead of being marked offline.

How the list is ordered

By default servers are ordered by players online. Once accounts open, players can review servers, and the review ranking orders eligible recommendations by the lower bound of a 95% Wilson interval, so a few enthusiastic reviews cannot outrank a long track record.

Positions on the list are never sold. If we ever offer promotion, it will be clearly labelled and kept separate from the organic order.

Labels you will see

Verified ownership means the owner published our verification file (or DNS record) on the server's website and keeps it there; we check it every day. Verification pending means a claim is being checked. Detected automatically means we found the server on public lists or with our status probe and nobody has claimed it yet. Owner descriptions are labelled as owner content, and everything our probe measures is labelled as measured by OTSLIST.

Server images

If a server's website publishes a link-preview image (og:image), we may show it on that server's card and profile, credited to the website. Owners can remove it at any time in the owner workspace or block our OTSLIST-PreviewBot in robots.txt.

Contact and removal

Server owners can ask us to correct or remove a detected listing, and anyone can report abuse. Write to us at [email protected]; a person reads every message.
